Murals

Leonardo da Vinci painted some of the worlds most well known murals. His attention to detail and vision allowed him to create some truly stunning works of art. Many of his works have been lost do time, war and disaster and over time we are beginning to rediscovered some hidden works so even though he has not be alive for over 500 years we still are being wowed by his works.

The Last Supper is one of his most famous works. This work is a recreation of Jesus last supper from the story in the Gospel of John. Most of the work has been lost and there has been many attempts to restore it.

St. John the Baptist believed to have been completed from 1513 to 1516, is believed to be Da Vinci’s final painting and is now exhibited at the Musée du Louvre in Paris, France. The piece depicts St. John the Baptist in seclusion. He look as if he will emerge from the ghostly background. St. John is dressed in pelts, has long curly hair, and is smiling similar to the Mona Lisa. He holds a reed cross in his left hand while his right hand points up toward heaven.

This painting named the Mona Lisa has been commended as "the best known, the most visited, and the most written about known to date. The painting is thought to be a portrait of Lisa Gherardini. It is believed to have been painted between 1503 and 1506. Da Vinci may have continued working on it as late as 1517. It was acquired by King Francis I of France and is now the property of the French Republic, on permanent display at the Louvre Museum in Paris since 1797.

This paint is called the lost Leonardo by mainly do to the fact it is thought to have been covered by a false wall in  Salone die Cinquecento. If discovered this work could be in very good condition and my prove to be one of the greatest finds in the art world.

  1. For what reason do people believe it was sealed behind a false wall? If it's lost and undiscovered, how do we know that it looks like this??
